Iceland Dance Company: Sacrifice
Sacrifice by Iceland Dance Company is a spectacle of dance, art and film created in collaboration with visual artists Ragnar Kjartansson and Matthew Barney.
Part dance, part ballet, part rock concert, part film – Sacrifice is a festival of ideas inspired by concepts surrounding ritual, religion and art.
The works in Sacrifice include:
A dance celebrating life and death choreographed by Erna Ómarsdóttir in collaboration with the dancers of the company
A ballet for eight dancers and eight guitars to the music by The National’s Bryce Dessner. Created by performance and visual artist Ragnar Kjartansson and choreographer Margrét Bjarnadóttir.
Union of the North
A performative video installation that fuses together themes of consumerism and spirituality. Created by renowned American visual artist Matthew Barney, choreographer Erna Ómarsdóttir and musician Valdimar Jóhannsson.
In partnership with Reykjavík City Theatre and LÓKAL Performing Arts Reykjavík.
